New York, New York

Okay, so this is my SUPER delayed post of pictures from our NY trip last month. This is definitely not all the pictures, just some of my favorites :)

I'm a little HG obsessed so I loved all these huge adverts around Times Square :)

Loved Hoboken and Carlo's. Mama was beyond adorable.. and soo sweet! The wait was long, but the food was delish!!

We ate at this pizza place that was a converted old church. It was gorgeous!

It totally poured on us on our harbor cruise. But, we still got to see some beautiful sights. Plus it makes for interesting pictures right??

Yes, this is us, in our Texas jerseys at Yankee Stadium. How brave are we?? We only got heckled a little ;)

The skyline and buildings are just beautiful. You can definitely see the weather in these pics.

I was in love with all the bridges! I think thats what I have the most pictures of. I'm crazy!
I just 'love' this picture.

Three - Birthday Edition

I totally stole this from a friend on Tumblr because I loved the idea. I'm thinking about adopting it for a weekly thing to help me stop and think about things. This particular one is a little different because its my birthday edition, so some of it is pretty general. But still, its me :)

Three things I am thankful for:
1. another fabulous year of life (they just keep getting better and better)
2. my fiancé, Mike
3. my parents and my besties

Three things I’m looking forward to this week:
1. my birthday! 3-1 on Sunday
2. hanging with friends and family (girls night out, quilt show, dallas flea)
3. my favorite beer biscuits and sausage gravy

Three things on mind today:
1. test tomorrow
2. grad school info/options
3. Christmas ideas (its never too early to start planning, right??)

Three things that made me happy this weekend:
1. first softball game of fall ball (far more fun that I thought it was going to be)
2. babysitting two super adorable girls
3. rearranging the bedroom so I can get a desk :)

Three things I am praying for:
1. job after graduation in December
2. church issues/questions/feelings
3. our future in general

High Five for Friday

I'm just linking up all over the place this week! Today I'm linking up with Lauren @ From My Grey Desk (who I just adore!) for this High Five for Friday post.

Here's my five from this week:

     1. I've been waiting and watching and we finally did it. 200,000 miles. I was hoping when we reached this milestone I could retire the old girl, but alas, the real world said "maybe later". So here's to another hundred thousand miles lol.
     2. Pumpkin Spice is back at Starbucks! Yay, my life is complete. Okay so that's an exaggeration, but really, I do love when fall stuff starts making its appearance. Now if only the temperatures would start cooling off!
     3. We went skeet shooting this weekend and Mike snuck this picture of me. I look awful, but I just love shooting so I couldn't leave it out. If you look hard, you can see the clay in the air!
     4. I made Nutella cookies for the first time. They were pretty delish!
     5. So its a guilty pleasure and my mom totally supports my habit. The seasons come out pretty close to my birthday every year so she buys them for me. I spent ALL day Monday watching this entire season. Thats like the epitome of Labor Day laziness!!

Current Crush Thursday

So, this is my first link up or doing a theme-y thing from another blog. But, I just thought the idea was super cute!  Found the idea from Lattes and Love and The Wright Stuff

Current Crush Thursdays

My current crush is PUMPKIN! With the return of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice drinks, how could I not start thinking about all things fall? Fall is my favorite season and pumpkin is by far my favorite part of fall! Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, trips to the pumpkin patch - I just love it all!

craft crazy

Craft crazy.. thats what I was today. It was one of those days where I just had a million ideas and things really started to fall together. Here are the three projects that I finished today:

And, just because I haven't blogged in a while, here are two more projects that I've completed in the last week or so.

Having more free time has really allowed me to get back that creativity that I lost for a while. Being so busy with work and school and internship really pushed crafting to the farthest back burner. Its nice to have it back front and center for a change. I can't wait to see what else comes out of all this free time :)

Today's project - Mint Chocolate Chip magnet board

You know, I originally started this blog to post about my crafting. Well, needless to say, that didn't really happen the way I wanted it to. But, circumstances in my life have changed and I now have the opportunity to do so much more crafting and creating (and blogging!). So, now the goal is to find a balance between the creative and the personal. Probably more creative because really, I'm not that interesting in real life haha.

Anyway, today's project was a custom order magnet board. It was my first time making one, so I kinda figured stuff out on the fly. And since it didn't occur to me that I could blog about this until I was already into it, I don't have a before pic of the metal. I guess you'll just have to imagine it. So here's my supplies (plus that imagined metal square that my honey so graciously had cut and then sanded all pretty) and the basic covered metal board. I'm gonna keep calling it a board because thats just what I'm going to call it lol. You'll be okay with that right? Good! So, I attached the fabric with spray glue which was another first for me. I had tried the spray glue once with a paper project I was doing and HATED it, so I put it away and never used it again. But this project just screamed "Please spray glue me!!", so I did. And it worked like a dream. I wish everything was that easy. Seriously. PS, you can see me in the metal. Don't I look beautiful??

So my normal bulletin boards have buttons on the bottom corner for decoration. Well since this was a magnet board, I thought why not make those cute buttons functional as magnets. So I did :) I definitely obsessed with these buttons that you cover yourself. I mean the possibilities are endless. I use them for bows, for decorations, for sewing stuff. You can make them match ANYTHING! Plus its crazy easy.

And, every board needs a little decoration right? So I made my easy peasy little rosette/flower embellishment to add to the top corner. Ever since I discovered how to make these, I use them for everything. They are so easy, but so cute! Love.

Everything is all ready now, and just needs to be put together. I just hot glued the flower on and stuck the button magnets on the bottom and voila - finished project.

Doesn't this color combo just scream Mint Chocolate Chip?!?! Hence the post title lol. Anyway, that was my project for today. Hope you've enjoyed this episode of Crafting with Kasey HAHA wink wink. And who knows, the day is still young.. maybe I have another project up my sleeve!!

joy in the journey

A friend gave me a "picture a day" photo album for Christmas. I took this photo on my walk this afternoon and thought it was so fitting for the first picture, the first day of a new year. Its the uphill portion of my walk, usually the hardest. But at the top, its so worth it. And isn't that what each new year brings? A new hill to climb? A new journey to go on? This year my goal is to see all the beauty along the way. Here's to finding the joy in this journey =)
