Sometimes you just gotta DIY

I was looking to reorganize my desk area and wanted some of these wall folder holder things. Of course all the cute ones were super expensive. So enter my “I can do anything” attitude and I walked out with these super cheap black ones. Grabbed some fabric and burlap flowers out of my stash and voila - cute DIY organization! I’m just gonna be honest, I’m pretty impressed with myself hahaha.

Why so chicken??

Anyone who knows me knows that I have quite a bit of social anxiety. I get really nervous about hanging out with people I don't really know and hanging out in large groups (whether I know the people or not). Well, one of my goals for this year was to work on overcoming that anxiety. I took a super big step this weekend and I'm pretty proud of myself! I got invited to go out with a group of ladies for a birthday celebration. Now, that doesn't sound like a very big deal, but I only knew one person and I've never hung out with that person. So for me, it was like going out with an entire group of people I didn't know. That's huge for me!! But, it was totally worth it. I had so much fun and was able to make some new friends. Step one - accomplished!! I realize that this issue isn't going to be solved by one outing - it may never completely go away. But, with every awkward and anxious situation I brave, I know the next will be a little easier.

Since then...

I can't believe I haven't posted since September! It really doesn't seem like its been that long. What have I been up to since September? Well, I had another birthday, got my second tattoo, started my first quilt, and graduated college! Here's some of my favorite pictures from the last few months.

Well, now its a new year. I know this year will hold a lot of changes but I think I'm finally ready for them. Now that I've graduated, I'm starting a whole new chapter and I couldn't be more excited to see what it holds!!

New York, New York

Okay, so this is my SUPER delayed post of pictures from our NY trip last month. This is definitely not all the pictures, just some of my favorites :)

I'm a little HG obsessed so I loved all these huge adverts around Times Square :)

Loved Hoboken and Carlo's. Mama was beyond adorable.. and soo sweet! The wait was long, but the food was delish!!

We ate at this pizza place that was a converted old church. It was gorgeous!

It totally poured on us on our harbor cruise. But, we still got to see some beautiful sights. Plus it makes for interesting pictures right??

Yes, this is us, in our Texas jerseys at Yankee Stadium. How brave are we?? We only got heckled a little ;)

The skyline and buildings are just beautiful. You can definitely see the weather in these pics.

I was in love with all the bridges! I think thats what I have the most pictures of. I'm crazy!
I just 'love' this picture.

Three - Birthday Edition

I totally stole this from a friend on Tumblr because I loved the idea. I'm thinking about adopting it for a weekly thing to help me stop and think about things. This particular one is a little different because its my birthday edition, so some of it is pretty general. But still, its me :)

Three things I am thankful for:
1. another fabulous year of life (they just keep getting better and better)
2. my fiancé, Mike
3. my parents and my besties

Three things I’m looking forward to this week:
1. my birthday! 3-1 on Sunday
2. hanging with friends and family (girls night out, quilt show, dallas flea)
3. my favorite beer biscuits and sausage gravy

Three things on mind today:
1. test tomorrow
2. grad school info/options
3. Christmas ideas (its never too early to start planning, right??)

Three things that made me happy this weekend:
1. first softball game of fall ball (far more fun that I thought it was going to be)
2. babysitting two super adorable girls
3. rearranging the bedroom so I can get a desk :)

Three things I am praying for:
1. job after graduation in December
2. church issues/questions/feelings
3. our future in general

High Five for Friday

I'm just linking up all over the place this week! Today I'm linking up with Lauren @ From My Grey Desk (who I just adore!) for this High Five for Friday post.

Here's my five from this week:

     1. I've been waiting and watching and we finally did it. 200,000 miles. I was hoping when we reached this milestone I could retire the old girl, but alas, the real world said "maybe later". So here's to another hundred thousand miles lol.
     2. Pumpkin Spice is back at Starbucks! Yay, my life is complete. Okay so that's an exaggeration, but really, I do love when fall stuff starts making its appearance. Now if only the temperatures would start cooling off!
     3. We went skeet shooting this weekend and Mike snuck this picture of me. I look awful, but I just love shooting so I couldn't leave it out. If you look hard, you can see the clay in the air!
     4. I made Nutella cookies for the first time. They were pretty delish!
     5. So its a guilty pleasure and my mom totally supports my habit. The seasons come out pretty close to my birthday every year so she buys them for me. I spent ALL day Monday watching this entire season. Thats like the epitome of Labor Day laziness!!

Current Crush Thursday

So, this is my first link up or doing a theme-y thing from another blog. But, I just thought the idea was super cute!  Found the idea from Lattes and Love and The Wright Stuff

Current Crush Thursdays

My current crush is PUMPKIN! With the return of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice drinks, how could I not start thinking about all things fall? Fall is my favorite season and pumpkin is by far my favorite part of fall! Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, trips to the pumpkin patch - I just love it all!
