what i made today (thats right just today lol)

soo, i wanted to sew today. well normally i spread out all my stuff in the floor and then have to walk back and forth to Mike's work table in the kitchen. well.. not today!!! Mike was so sweet and got out his folding table and bought me new lights and and an extension cord and set me up a place to sew today. yes it looks like a mess.. but.. it was sooo helpful and i thought it was sweet.

well, since i had this great little sewing station set up, i decided to make the most of it!! i sewed like crazy today! well it started with the idea that i wanted to make a tote with lots of pockets on the inside. i love big purses but i hate that all my stuff gets lost in it. figured this would be the best solution ;)
so.. this is what i came up with:

then.. i just kinda went from there. i ended up making a new zipper pouch for the fabric cash envelopes i made last week. then mike wanted me to make some pot holder/handle things for his cast iron skillets. well i made those and had a little bit of the fabric left so i made a matching pot holder. random i know lol. then i made another zippy pouch to hold stuff in my new tote!

this is the new zipper pouch for the fabric cash envelopes

the top of the pic is the cash envelopes, the larger envelope didnt work exactly the way i wanted, hence the new zipper pouch above =)
mikes handles and pot holder

my zippy to hold something in my new tote

sooo.. do i really need all this stuff? probably not. but do i enjoy making it? YOU BET. it is ridiculously relaxing and also kinda gives me a sense of accomplishment! anywho, thats what i made today. now to prepare for tomorrow.. going to shoot!!! i'm such a crazy girl ;)

random made and makes

so, i know i said i would be better about posting.. but i havent done so great at that eh? lol

well, with summer coming to a close (the no school part - definitely not the temperature!) i am realizing that i didn't make nearly as much as i wanted to during my time off. here are a few of the things i DID make.

on-the-go diaper tote for my mgr's upcoming baby
rosettes for hair clips, headbands, or cardi clips

i think this rosette is soo pretty (i might be a little biased lol)
camera strap for the wonderful sam

UT inspired clutch for my Meg who is a huge fan
its not that crooked, i promise ;)

the clutch i made to go out with meg for her birthday

i had sewing block, so i just decided to make something up and see if that would help.
i think think it turned out pretty cute!

i've also got a few things that im thinking about making soon. a few more clutches in a little different style, a new rangers t-shirt, some new hats, oh the list goes on and on. im really hoping to get the 'store' back up and running and have stuff getting made and going on out at a more regular pace.

hmm.. what else is new. well, school started back this week. im glad and crabby at the same time lol. sooo ready to be done. next year - fingers crossed. ooooh, its also almost my birthday!! im gonna be the big 3-0 which, not gonna lie, gonna freaks me out. thought i'd be a lot "further" by now. and while part of that is true, im also happier than i've ever been. i'm just now truly figuring out who i am and what i want out of life. in that respect, i wouldn't trade my road for anything else in the world. i am actually super excited about my birthday this year. won't be getting tons of present, but i am stoked about some of the plans i have. i am so truly thankful for God bringing people back in my life just when i need them. im so lucky.

anyway, i think ive just been rambling. but, thats kinda whats been going on here. i'll try to be better. i'll try =)

wild rose

So, one of the biggest changes over the last year is the discovery of my love of craftiness!  I love stuff. Jewelry, clothes, bags - you name it. What I don't love is the pricetag. So much of the boutique style stuff I was finding just seemed so expensive, and I'm a self confessed cheap skate lol. One day I decided that I thought I could do it for cheaper. Know what I discovered? I COULD! So I made myself a few things and found that other people liked my stuff too. And.... its kinda grown from there. I even have a nerdy organization system ;)

some of my jewelry

labels and everything.. told you it was nerdy!!

Well, from there came all sorts of other things that I wanted to make with my hands. I started making pictures frames and other scrapbooky stuff. Eventually, that led to headbands and hats and somewhere down the road I rediscovered the sewing machine! And now, I completely and ridiculously have the bug. I'm trying to learn and do new things with it all the time. So far, I've done some dresses, camera straps, and some small bags.

the top headband was my very first one! i still wear it all the time
i love these hats. i wanna make a ton for myself!

dresses :)

clutch and zipper pouch
my fabric stash
So, that new crafty side of me is where Wild Rose Boutique came from. It is such an amazing feeling to make stuff and then have people like it. It gives you almost a sense of acceptance. I do and make the things I do because it relaxes me and makes me happy. But, when it makes other people happy too, thats just, wow. I LOVE that feeling! Anyway, thats kind of my rambling story of where Wild Rose started.

all along the road

So, they say life is a journey. If that's true, then mine has been a crazy, long, winding road full of adventures, trials and much laughter. I'm about to be 30 this year and amazingly enough, I'm just NOW starting to find myself and figure out who I really am. That's where this blog comes in. Here is where I'll share the things I'm learning and doing all along the road to becoming the woman I always knew was deep down inside. I hope that you guys can relate to, add to, or just be part of the road ahead. ♥
